Becca Engelbrecht was born in Florida, USA in 1978. She spent her childhood in Florida and graduated from North Florida Christian high school as valedictorian of her class.
Becca studied at Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 2000. After finishing university, she taught at an elementary school for 5 years. While teaching, she led praise and worship for three years at a church. In that time, she earned one year of study from Every Nation Leadership Institute as well as a diploma in Writing for Children and Teenagers from the Institute of Children's Literature in West Redding, Connecticut.
In 2005, Becca moved to Edinburgh, Scotland as a missionary where she helped with music and children's ministries. She worked for a year as the senior nursery nurse at a preschool in Edinburgh. Becca studied for a year at Napier University in Edinburgh and earned a Master's degree in Publishing in 2007.
Becca is married to her adventurous, South African-Scottish husband who she met in Scotland as he was serving in the Royal Scots Army. She has two wonderful sons. She currently lives in Florida with her family and is teaching 2nd grade at a public elementary school. She also enjoys teaching ukulele on Outschool, an online platform.
Over the years, Becca's love for creativity and writing has grown as she has been inspired while teaching reading and writing to her students. Becca enjoys singing, writing songs and children's books, and going on adventures with her husband and boys.
